by Kevin MacDonald

Hospital Pharmacy Operations Report 2016Today we publish the third annual Hospital Pharmacy Operations Report and the findings are just as intriguing as the previous two years (2015, 2014). Some of the key themes include the impact of drug price increases, the complications resulting from the intersection of automation, technology and drug shortages, and regulatory compliance as a key driver of pharmacy initiatives. The report includes nineteen pages of analysis accompanied by twenty-one charts.

The survey is selectively distributed to hospital pharmacy leaders. This year over 1,000 hospitals are represented. 83% reported their role as Director of Pharmacy with an additional 9% reporting Associate Director of Pharmacy. 90% of participants had more than 10 years of experience and more than half had greater than 20 years. It is clear these results represent a broad and seasoned perspective.
